Description
Kouchibouguac National Park is known for its salt marshes protected by its long sand dune beaches. Boardwalks take you across the lagoon to the Kouchibouguac Dune where you will find Kelly's Beach, the most popular beach in the park. The Kouchibouguac Dune protects the Saint-Louis Lagoon from the wind and waves of the Northumberland Strait. The North Kouchibouguac Dune protects Kouchibouguac Lagoon. There are also several tidal rivers flowing into these lagoons. They provide ample opportunites to explore the park by canoe or kayak. You can rent canoe's and kayak's at Ryan's on Kouchibouguac River.
The lagoons have bird sanctuaries on some of the small sandy islands and dunes. They protect nesting plovers and terns. Watch for signage where you can't go to shore. There is also a colony of a couple hundred seals at the end of Kouchigouguac Dune. There is so much wildlife and sea bird activity in some places that its almost deafening.

Directions
Kouchibouguac National Park is just off of Route 11 between Miramichi and Bouctouche. Take exit 75 and turn towards the park. After just over a kilometre you will come to a stop sign. After the stop sign keep straight and you will soon come to the gates to the park. You can also access the park on Route 117 from Escuminac.
