Description
The Town of Oromocto is nestled into the area where the Oromocto River flows into the Wolostoq (St. John) River. Oromocto River is a slow flowing river so it is possible to paddle up the river and float back down. It is also possible to put in at the Sunpoke Road Bridge and float down to the town. There is a channel across from the wharf in Oromocto, that goes up along the long, narrow Thatch Island. Looping around the island and returning in the main Wolostoq (St. John) River is a great place to explore. If you are more ambitious you can continue up river and circle around the larger Oromocto Island.
